THE CORPORAL PUNISHMENT (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1971

Section 2 empowers the Legislative Council to amend the Schedule to the principal Ordinance by resolution. (This Schedule contains a list of those offences for which persons may be caned).

Section 3 amends the Schedule to the principal Ordinance so as to enable a court to order adults and juveniles convicted of an offence against section 10 or 12 of the Theft Ordinance 1970, or section 33 of the Public Order Ordinance (possession of an offensive weapon in a public place) or of affray to be caned in addition to or in lieu of any other punishment.
3. Before His Excellency the Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, I advised that he could properly do so.
