The enclosed letter from a distant cousin of mine at the Hong-Kong Bar is self-explanatory. It seems to me that he has a point. He is a very able Barrister, who wanted to go into the Foreign Office after he got his Oxford degree at Merton, but was refused, possibly because he was three-quarters Chinese. He has married a girl from England, and his son is a joint god-son of Guinevere and myself. I think he is probably the youngest Q.C. to have been appointed. His uncles, the Los, were members of Exco, and one of them was knighted.
I think he is doing extremely well at the Hong-Kong Bar, and his son is down for Eton. For some time, I think, he was Secretary of the Hong-Kong Bar Association.
