Thank you for your letter of 11 September about the Dormant Commission.

2. Murray MacLehose hus now seen the papers and shares our view that the Commission should be revoked. Formal approval for this to be done will involve obtaining the agreement of the Ministry of Defence and the approval of Ministers (followed by the submission of advice to The Queen). It may therefore be some time before we can formally notify you that the Commission has been revoked. However, we do not expect any opposition to the proposal and I think you may take it that the matter has been settled in principle.
