You may like to see the attached press cuttings referring to the revised defence costs. This happened whilst I was on leave in the United Kingdom.
The local reaction was mixed, but was not as strident as we had anticipated.
As you know, we were given no guidance on this question so that my Information Officer was unable to do anything to soften the impact on the local press and public opinion. Fortunately the event passed off without too much bad feeling being stirred up.
