BERMUDA: REFUND OF EXTRA COSTS FOR TROOPS
Please refer to your letter to Gordon dated 15 November 1971.
Our position is that we now expect the amounts owing to MOD to be paid to us in a lump sum, Whether the payment is made by the Bermuda Government or by the FCO is a matter between you and them, as is the period over which the Bermuda Government might repay HMG provided, of course, Defence Votes are fully reimbursed straight away.
We, therefore, have no comments on your draft brief for your Minister of State's discussion with the Bermuda Government delegation.
