provided even for girls and good examples of the various courses that are
possible can be seen in the Baharhuddin Vocational Institute in Singapore.
The Adviser promised to send a copy of its prospectus to Mr Board, the Assistant
Director for Further Education. Even the excellent work being done at
St Francis School can be spoiled by the very enthusiasm of the staff and students
if they are not careful. For example, the basic course now being carried out in
electronics is in the Adviser's view liable to develop into what would normally
be a technician level course if it is not kept within strict bounds and this
would be quite inappropriate to the basic standard of education of the boys in
the school. Mr Scholz appeared to be well aware of this danger. In view of the
CARITAS activities in Latin America the writer promised to see whether he could
discover any appropriate Latin American syllabuses which might be of interest to
this type of school when he paid his next visit to that Region in September.
