Pakistan will continue to be included among the global quota countries, but we are confident of her continued ability to compete successfully among them. Our indications are that : exceptionally heavy orders for Pakistan cotton textiles have already been placed for next year which may tempt her not to co-operate in continuing quotas. In that event we fully intend to implement our warning of taking over administration of quotas ourselves. There is also mounting resentment in the Lancashire industry against the Pakistan export bonus voucher scheme. Handloom cotton textiles will continue to be free of. quota restrictions. We shall also proceed with our intention to make suitable arrangements for according duty free entry to genuine traditional handloom cotton and silk products.
