(c) Comments
(i) Operational
Indonesia was inspected last year, as a result of
which the grade of the officer in charge of
information work was reduced from 6 to 7, some
L.E.s were re-graded and one L.E. post abolished.
The post-confrontation period has, however, been
generally characterised by steadily increasing
commercial and other activity, and the post has
already asked for its L.E. information staff to be
supplemented.
(ii) Future Developments
Given the continuance of political stability, the
development of Indonesia, as the world's fifth
largest nation, can only imply an increasing
British interest.
