Sir,
I have the honour to inform you that I have appointed Mr. G. R. Ross, O. B. E., J. P., provisionally and subject to Her Majesty's pleasure, to be temporarily an Unofficial Member of the Executive Council with effect from 1st August 1971 during the absence from the Colony of Sir Douglas Clague, C.B.E., M. C., Q.P.M., T.D., J. P. The appointment follows the departure from the Colony of Mr. G. M. B. Salmon, J. P., who was originally appointed temporarily to fill this vacancy as reported to you in my despatch No. 429 of 31st May 1971.

Mr. Ross' previous appointment referred to in your despatch HKK 1/3 dated 17th May 1971 expired on 31st July 1971 following the return to the Colony of Mr. J. A. H. Saunders, C. B. E., D.S.O., M. C., J. P.
