Very many thanks for your letter of 7 January enclosing the Hong Kong Year Book and some pamphlets. This material was fine, but I would be grateful for some more; so may I take you up on your offer to pick out a selection of books either from the Foreign Office or Hong Kong Government Office libraries. It would also be interesting to have any reports on individual subjects that Michael Wright has available.
2. This all may seem rather far ahead, but the object of putting in some intensive reading now is to decide what I want to do during my 6 months' sabbatical.
