25 February 1971
I see from Laird's copy of your letter to David Trench of 11 Februɛry that you will be leaving Copenhagen on 2 May and then spending some time in Scotland. Would it be possible for you to call in at the Office before you go to Scotland? It would be most helpful if you could spare an hour or so to bring us up to date with your plans for preparing yourself for Hong Kong. At the same time we could let you have our ideas on the sort of things we think we should discuss with you, either on your own or with Trench when he gets here in June.
As I mentioned when we had our talk last October, we shall be only too glad to help in any way we can (for example, in arranging contacts). May I suggest, therefore, that we should aim at having a preliminary meeting at some convenient time during the first week in May.
