Sir L.

Princess Alexandra's Visit to Hong Kong

I was speaking on another subject to one of the

Ladies of Princess Alexandra's Household yesterday and

took the opportunity to say that, while I was not making

any formal request, I wondered whether she could give me

any idea of what sort of welcome a proposal to visit

Hong Kong in October would be likely to receive from Her

Royal Highness. The reply was that four months' notice

was a little short and, while the Princess would like to

go to Hong Kong, she would probably be thinking more in

terms of Spring 1971. I should add that the Lady was

speaking without commitment, as was I.
