IF ASKED whether Mr. Royle's visit to Hong Kong is any way connected with the appointment, we should reply that it is not, but he did of course take the opportunity presented by his visit to discuss the appointment privately with the Hong Kong authorities.

7.

IF ASKED whether the Danish Government might be upset, because Mr. MacLehose has been in Copenhagen for a relatively short time, we should reby that we have no reason to think this is so.

8.

IT ASKED whether Mr. MacLehose is not rather young to be appointed to Hong Kong, we should reply that when Sir David was appointed, he was younger than Mr. MacLehose will be when he takes up the post.
