Between March and May this year ELLSTROM helped organise and

took part in three separate demonstrations against American involvement

in Vietnam and Cambodia, two of which were outside the U.S. Consulate

General and one outside the offices of Pan-American (Pan-Am) Airways.

While these demonstrations were themselves relatively small and peaceable

the one outside the Pan-Am offices attracted a large crowd which caused

considerable obstruction to traffic. When such a crowd does gather in

Hong Kong there is always the possibility of violence erupting.

ELLSTROM has also contributed on at least one occasion to the

70's Bi-Weekly, a very radical student publication which misses no

opportunity to bring authority and religion of any kind into disrepute

and considers itself the messenger of Hong Kong's 'New Left'.

Ad Hoc Committee.

ELLSTROM's visa expired in September this year and when he applied

for a further extension this was refused. He then appealed to H.E. the

Governor-in-Council and, whilst he was awaiting the result of this appeal,

was given a one month extension. His appeal was rejected and he left

Hong Kong on 4th October.

ELLSTROM has been closely associated with the 'Revolutionary

Group' since it was formed and although he is not one of the more extreme

members he must, by his continued association, share responsibility for

the activities of the group. He made no secret of his opposition to
