PROGRAMME AND ENTERTAINMENT

(a) Details will be given later. It is expected that the Secretary of State will be host at a luncheon, payment for which will be the subject of discussion between the Ambassador and Personnel Services Department, FCO.

(b) A small entertainment allowance is being authorised for Press entertainment in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Osaka. Posts will be asked to make a small supply of duty free liquor and cigarettes available as required, for the same purpose.

OFFICIAL GIFTS

(a) Hong Kong: The Hong Kong Department, FCO has advised that no official gifts will be required.

(b) Tokyo: The Embassy has been asked to provide a list of all those to whom the Secretary of State and Mrs. Stewart should present official gifts, both in Tokyo and Osaka, together with a recommend- ation of what would be appropriate in each case.

TRANSPORT

In addition to the allocation of motor cars to the Secretary of State (and to Mrs. Stewart, when fulfilling a separate programme), provision should be made for a certain number of other allocated cars, including one each for the Private Secretary and the Assistant Head of News Department. Further details will be co-ordinated between Conference Section and the two posts concerned.

12. CLOTHING

Both Hong Kong and Tokyo have given advice for those travelling, of the clothes that the latter will need for the Visit. This advice is contained in the Advance Administrative Arrangements, which will be circulated to all concerned early next week.

STATIONERY AND OFFICE EQUIPMENT

The Secretary of State's Personal Assistants will bring with them their own portable typewriters, together with their own special stationery; the Hong Kong Government and the Embassy, Tokyo are being asked if they can provide the Personal Assistant to the Assistant Head of News Department with a typewriter and also with normal stationery for all the party.
