The question of his own suc cessor as Governor of Hongkong is one of the topics for discus- sion when Sir David Trench is host to the Foreign and Com- monwealth Secretary, Mr Stewart, from April 17 to 19.
Sir David's term has already been extended while the search: for the next Governor continues At Westminster there has been speculation that the post had been set aside
potential
political plum, to be used as a handy vacancy for an ex-Minis- ter after the next Cabinet reshuffle.
Mr Stewart is visiting Hong- kong as part of a Far East visit that als? mcudes Japan.
He vill also have a working meeting with rembers of the Legislative Council, and it is expected that members of the Reform Group will press the case for increasing the number of elected members.
