5. A point to be borne in mind is the possibility that O.D.M.
may ask for a F.0.0. Minister to lead the British delegation at the annual Colombo Plan meeting, if Mr. Wood (who has no Junior Minister)
cannot go himself. This is fixed for Manila on 23-25 November, but
may be put back a week because of a Papal visit to the Philippines.

Authority has been sought for inviting Field Marshal Thanom
Kittikhajorn, the Thai Prime Minister, to pay an official visit to
Britain in the late autumn (see earlier submission attached).
7. Mr. Bunchana Atthakorn, Minister for Economic Affairs, had to
cancel his planned visit in June. He may wish to come later this
year and, if so, it would be difficult to refuse him. 'He would be
the guest of the President of the Board of Trade.
Philippines
The
8. Mrs. Marcos, wife of the President of the Philippines, is
coming to Britain on 3 or 4 September for about a fortnight.
visit will be a private one and primarily to see her son into school,
but Mrs. Marcos expects to receive, some official recognition and
hospitality and we want to ensure that she gets appropriately high level treatment. A separate submission (copy attached) has been
made recommending this.
