I would be grateful if you could obtain the Prime Minister's approval in the normal way to a visit by Mr.Jeter Kirk, Under-Secretary of State for the Royal Navy, to hrein and the Far East between the 25th September and 9th October. The purpose of the tour would be to visit navel establishments and ships in the areas concerned and some time will be spent at sea. The Minister of State, for the Secretary of State for Defence, has given his consent.
Because the timing of the visit has had to be re-arranged in the last few days I have not got a detailed itinerary, but the broad arrangements, will be as follows:-

Evening 9th October
Leave Brize Norton by RAF scheduled service.
Arrive Bahrein
Depart Bahrein and arrive Changi
Discussions with senior
military authorities, tour of the naval base, visits to ships and a day at sea.
Depart Changi Arrive Hong Kong
Hong Kong. A similar programme as in Singapore

Kuala Lumpur
Singapore
Return to the UK overnight.
