An extension of the airport should should ensure that this asset is kept intact when Jumbo Jets come into service. Thus, if H.MG. are to provide the Hong Kong Government with assistance for the development of the airport, there is a strong case for putting the financial responsibility onto the Board of Trade who have a Vote for the development of Colonial airports. I therefore suggest that the draft letter should make this point and try to establish that, if H.M.G. are to help, this might best be done by using the Board of Trade's Vote.
