(a) that inquiry for the purposes of this Ordinance,
other than the provisions thereof relating to
deportation, is necessary in the case of any person;
and
(b) that such person may abscond if he is not detained,
the Director of Immigration may detain him for not more than
four days.
Detention
pending
examination of
person who
lands in
Hong Kong
23. A person who lands in Hong Kong for the purpose of
examination under section 5 in accordance with arrangerents
approved by the Director may be detained under the authority
under approved of an immigration officer pending the examination. arrangements.
Detention pending further
examination.
24. A person who is required to submit to further
examination under section 5 may be detained under the
authority of an immigration officer pending that further exam-
ination.
Detention pending
determination of objection.
25. A person who has lodged an objection under sub-
section (1) of section 48 may be detained under the authority
of the Director pending the determination of the objection.
Detention for inquiry as to deportation.
26.
(1) If it appears to the Governor that
-
(a) there are reasonable grounds for inquiry as to
whether a person ought to be deported under section
19; and
(b)
it is desirable that such person should be detained
for the purposes of or during such inquiry,
he may issue a warrant in the prescribed form authorizing
