For future Resettlement estates the standard and

finish should be the same as for Government Low Cost Housing.

Further inducements (or compulsion) will be required to secure movement from the central to the outlying

areas.

To endorse changes in Resettlement priority cate- gories recommended by the Resettlement Policy Select Committee of the Urban Council on the basis that, where appropriate, those concerned should be given the opportunity to opt for Government Low Cost Housing or Housing Authority accommodation.

Further examination of the conversion of the Mark I and II Resettlement blocks will be required.

Construction of Kwai Shing II/III, Lai King and part of Lei Muk Shue Government Low Cost Housing Estates should be deferred.

Frovision should be made for the construction of 300,000 individual units of Resettlement accom- modation and 290,000 units of Government Low Cost Housing between 1st April 1969 and 31st March 1975.

At least one site in the vicinity of large estates should be reserved for cinema purposes and, in planning estates, provision should be made for the reservation of land for commercial development of entertainment and other facilities to cater for the

needs of estate residents.

and also the housing problems in the New Territories in the next report.

Management of 14 blocks of Pak Tin Estate should be vested in the Housing Authority (Annex D).

Non-structural improvements should be introduced as far as possible in the six Mark VI blocks now under construction (Annex D).

The last eight blocks should be constructed according to the Government Low Cost Housing pattern (Annex D).

As in previous years, comments have been obtained from the Urban Council, the Housing Authority and the Housing Society on the Report and these comments, where they require mention, are dealt with in the context of the individual recommendations to which they relate.
