Tory study of MK before Boyle visit-
SPECIAL commit- tee appointed by British Prime Min-
ister Mr Edward Heath to study Hongkong pro- blems will make its re-
commendations to the
new Tory Government soon and after that Mr Anthony Royle will come to Hongkong to de- cide what will be done about them.
Urban Councillor Mr Hilton Cheong-leen said this today after meeting Mr Royle in London af- ter his appointment as Under Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs,
Mr Royle is also the chairman of the spe- cial Hongkong commit- tee set up after then Opposition Leader Mr Heath made a fact find- ing visit to Hongkong early this year.
Mr Cheong-leen said he also met members of the special commit- tee, but declined to name these people.
"I had very friendly and frank discussions with Mr Royle,” he said. "I was told he will visit Hongkong within the next few months, as soon as he can man- age the time to make the trip."
"He said in his ca- pacity as Under Secre- tary he would like to see the situation in Hongkong from all an- gles."
