Mr. Gaminara
The attached piece of paper was given to me by
Mr. Hilton Cheong Leen when I met the Urban District
Councils in Hong Kong last Saturday.
2. The paragraphs about the Urban Council contain
nothing new. Those about the adoption of Chinese as
an official language might, however, be extracted to an
appropriate file. I understand that this idea (the
adoption of Chinese as an official language) has been a
topic of conversation in Hong Kong for many years. A
campaign has, however, developed over the last few weeks
and, since this is an emotional issue, we may hear more
of the matter. It would, in any event, be useful, I
think, if Mr. Marsh could take special care to see what
is being said in the press on the matter.
