Thank you for your confidential Saving Despatch No. 173
of 14th May 1970 and for your advice that you will be sending us a definitive reply as soon as possible.
2.
In our Saving Despatch No. 622 ref. TC 135/70 dated 22nd May 1970 you were advised that we were still giving thought to the application of the Design Copyright Act 1968 to Hong Kong and it is unlikely that we shall be able to reach a decision for some months. Clearly application of the Design Copyright Act is dependent upon prior application of the Copyright Act 1956 and while it would probably be advantageous for practical reasons to apply both Acts at the same time we would prefer the application of the Copyright Act to take place as soon as possible.
3.
In our Saving Despatch No. 603 dated 16th May 1970 we explained our difficulty in justifying the delay to interested parties in Hong Kong and it is not thought that consideration of the application of the Design Copyright Act would be a justifiable reason for further delay.
