(2) A public officer to whom any gratification is corruptly given or offered shall arrest the person who gives or offers such gratification to him and make over the person so arrested to the nearest police station and if he fails to do so without reasonable excuse he shall be guilty of an offence under this Ordinance and shall be liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or to a fine not exceeding five hundred dollars or to both such imprisonment and fine.
