Thank you for letting us know that in the event the Unofficial Members of the Executive and Legislative Councils did not raise the question of defence coats at their meeting with the CBP and yourself on 3 November. You mentioned in your tele- gram ETC 85 that they were interested in the "possibility of Forces in Hong Kong being used elsewhere". Would you please amplify this. It would be helpful to us here to know what was said on this subject since there is of course a connec- tion between the use to which the Forces in Hong Kong are put and the defence contribution.
