42 Cdo RM be returned from Singapore for service
in Northern Ireland from mid-September to mid-December 1970
to allow 41 Cdo RM to participate in Exercise DEEP
EXPRESS.
C. 1 Green Howards remain in Northern Ireland until
completion of a 4 month tour on 29 October 1970
when they should be relieved by a unit from the UK.
It is further recommended that HMG should review their recent
decision to retain two major units in the infantry role in the
Gulf, in order to release one for use in Northern Ireland.
