Ho repeated that Hong Kong dopended for its very existence on

its educated, adaptable and enthusiastic people, and the teaching of

tochnological as woll as orthodox classical subjects was of prime importance.

He said: Tho chairman has told us of the background to tho

building of this fino now school, and it must indeed be most gratifying

to tho mombers of the Fivo Districts Business Welfare Association to be

present at its opening today, after so many years of planning and preparation.

"This coromony, marking the first venture by the Association

into the sphere of secondary education, will mark the official opening

of a well dosigned and oquippod building with every promise of success.

The School complex contains 25 classrooms, to accommodate 1,000

boys and girls, and in addition there are a languago laboratory, four

science laboratories and specialist rooms for goography, art, music and

domostic science.

Well-Balanced Education

The pupils who are fortunate enough to be able to study horo

will therefore receive a well-balanced education to prepare thom to play

thoir part in the life of our community.

"I should liko horo to expand a littlo on one point made by

Mr. Fung Ping-fan. Wo will in Hong Kong, vory soon, I hopo, nearly attain

one of our goals in the field of education

that is, to be able to provide

foo-froo primary oducation for overy child dosiring it.

"This is a milestone for us all. But it does mean that we now

have to strive hard to find the money and the physical rosources to ensure

that our next major objective the provision of a further three years

aided schooling for ovory child sooking it is realised.
