2. Withdrawal or reduction of the import tariff on Commonwealth textiles about to come into effect on 1st January 1972.
3. Partial exemption of tariff for import into EEC
countries of certain Hong Kong manufactured goods that:
(A) Are not already manufactured in EEC countries;
(B) Cannot be considered as a threat to that particular industries in the EEC; and
(C) Have provided export earnings that are
Hong Kong's major source of exchange.
4. Utilising of a part, say HK$100 million, of the very substantial reserve fund that Hong Kong has deposited in England to finance plant moder- nisation, technical and industrial training for increased productivity to meet competition in the face of increased tariffs.
It is earnestly hoped that Your Honour would give sympathetic consideration to Hong Kong's difficulties, and would make recommendations to Her Majesty's Government to safeguard the Colony's interest, for which the CMA as well as the whole community of Hong Kong would be deeply grateful.
