an assurance that the alternatives mentioned

in the provisional agreement are also open to

developing Commonwealth countries outside

Africa and the Caribbean which have a

'comparable economic structure and production'

and have either become independent i.e.

Mauritius and Western Samoa, or are likely to

become so in the foreseeable future e.g.

Fiji and Tonga;

an assurance that the c.e.t. and quotas should

not be applied to these countries up to the

entry into force of the new Yaounde Convention

(1975), on condition that these countries make

it clear that they are interested in negotiat ing

association;

an assurance that the standstill period will

affect all products which figure in relations

between Britain and the developing Commonwealth

countries to be associated with the Community, and

not just those covered in the current Yaoundé

Convention.
