Sir Alec Douglas Home, K.T., M.P.,

The Hirsel,

COLDSTREAM,

Berwickshire.

Dear Sir Alec,

As you know we have interests in textiles in America and undoubtedly the enclosed advertisement from the Washington Post is the outcome of the enormous quantity of imports from Hong Kong and other places into the States,

You are aware of our very high export per- :formance through our knitwear companies, and markets such as Scandinavia, Germany, the States and others are proving more and more difficult in view of the very low prices.

We are concerned now about the import of Hong Kong sweaters into the U.K. and I do hope that you will keep this in mind on the occasions when this question arises at Government level.
