Duration of discussions on future of C.T.A.

18.

It seems unlikely that the future of the Arrangement · will be resolved within the time allotted for the Cotton Textiles Committee meeting, and it is probable that at this meeting only initial positions and reactions to them will be recorded. Con- sequently further meetings late this year and possibly early next year may need to be held to discuss the future of the C.T.A. in detail.

Industrial Advisers

19.

Since the discussions at this forthcoming meeting of the Cotton Textiles Committee meeting are unlikely to make much progress in the three days allotted and no final decisions are likely to be taken, the department feels that it will not be necessary for industrial advisers to accompany the Hong Kong: representatives on this occasion.

Members' Advice

20.

Members are asked to note the above and to advise whether they concur with the department's views on the alterations and improvements which might be made to the C.T.A.
