Perhaps you can tell us about the
chance of British entry into the Common Market.
Ans.
It seems to me as it does to all of us
in Europe that this time it is serious and that we
should probably come to a conclusion of the entry
negotiations in the course on 1971 which will mean
that British entry will be technically possible at
a relatively early date.
Ques.
This will bring to the question of
associate membership for Hong Kong perhaps you
can comment on this.
Ans.
Associate membership for us is a
technical term that refors to the countries
which are associated with us largely in the
Mediterranean area and in Africa. I think this
specific kind of membe, ship is not altogether
casy to conceive for Hong Kong. At the same time
we expect the British to make proposals on how
they want to see the future of Hong kong safeguarded
once they are in the community. We shall have to
consider them at that time. Of course we are also
trying to think for ourselves what solutions might
bc but we have not negotiated this problem yet.

Please tell what is your plan in Tokyo.
Ans.
In Tokyo I have two plans, one plan is
connected with our negotiation about commercial
agreement between the European Community and Tokyo
and I'm not actually going thero to negotiate but
I am going to explore the political problems
underlying the nugotiation.
