SHIP OFF ROCKS
GREEK freighter today ran aground on rocks near Waglan Island as it steamed into Hong- kong.

NE OF the top men in the Government serv- ants' fight for a higher pay increase has flown to London to try to get help from an asso- ciation of British civil servants.
He is Mr J.M. Hegarty, who be- sides being one of the top officials of the Association of European Civ- 11 Servants in Hongkong is also the Departmental Secretary of the Co- lonial Secretariat.
The STAR learned today Mr He. garty has flown to Lowlon to re- present Hongkong's three associa- tions of Government employees.
He may also see a top British lawyer to find out whether he is interested in taking up the civil servants' case when a Committee of Inquiry is appointed to look into their claims.

announced increases of between five per cent and 19 per cent for Sup- erscale officers.
The associations asked for a six per dent rise back-dated to April 1 last year, plus two more rises of three per cent to operate from April 1 this year and April 1 next year, When their application for these increases was refused, the asso- ciations then officially asked the Government for a Committee of In- quiry into their claims.
