THE MANAGEMENT OF THE COMPANY HAVE TOLD THE COMMISSIONER OF

LABOUR IN CONFIDENCE THAT THEY HAVE REVIEWED AND DECIDED TO

MAINTAIN THEIR ORIGINAL DECISION NOT TO RECOGNIZE THE UNION.

RECOGNITION OF A UNICH AS THE SOLE REPRESENTATIVE OF

EXPLOYEES FOR NEGOTIATING PURPOSES IS NOT NORMAL PRACTICE IN

HONG KONG AND WE DO NOT KNOW OF ANY MANAGEMENT WHICH HAS

FORMALLY RECOGNIZED A TRADE UNION IS THIS WAY ALTHOUGH

SOME MANAGEMENT HAVE WORKING ARRANGEMENTS WITH UNIONS. FOR

YOUR INFORMATION A REQUEST BY THE MINISTRY OF PUBLIC BUILDING

AND WORKS LOCAL STAFF UNION IN HONG KONG TO THE DIRECTOR,

MINISTRY OF PUBLIC BUILDING AND WORKS, HONG KONG FOR FORMAL
