The Labour Relations Service assists employers and employees to
resolve differences by investigating the immediate causes and the background,
interviewing both parties separately, at the right time by conducting joint
meetings and helping the parties to draw up an agreement in writing.
In the quarter under review, the Service made 48 special visits
to employers to explain to them the advantages of introducing joint
consultative committees to improve communications between labour and
management, and management and labour.
The high degree of success of the Service during the quarter could
not have been achieved without the willingness of both employers and workers
to come promptly to meetings arranged for them, a labour Department spokesman
said today. He hoped more employers and employees would adopt the same
attitude so their differences could be resolved as early as possible.
