least to the Police Force itself, that it should not be seen to be
aiding employers against workers (e.g., by assisting scabs on to the
premises) except where violence has actually been used. Even then
the amount of force used should be reasonable. Recently we have had
some evidence of excessive violonce by police. If Great Eastern is
to be the model for future industrial disputes we have every reason
to be fearful of the consequences.
