Mr. Frank Judd (Fortsmouth, West): To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, whether he will make a statement on his recent discussions with the Government of Hong Kong concerning the proposed amendments to the Hong Kong Trade Union Registration Ordinance.
Mr. Anthony Royle,
Her Majesty's Government have been in close
consultation with the Government of Hong Kong about the
Trade Union Registration (Amendment) Bill 1970, which was
issued for general consideration early in August. The
Bill went before the Labour Advisory Board in Hong Kong,
on which both workers and employers are represented, on
the 15th of October.
Amendments to the draft Bill are now being considered
by the Hong Kong Government in the light of the views of
the Labour Advisory Board and those of other organisations
and individuals.
