Child labour in Hongkong
Sir,-You reported (“Guar- dian," February 25) that the Hongkong Government rejected allegations, by the International Textle Garment Workers Fed- eration. of child employment. I am not impressed. The Hong- kong Government has not good record of accurate state- ments in response to criticism.
They have an

record on labour conditions. Not many years ago the West- minster Government had to compel the Hongkong Govern- ment to amend legislation which permitted women and young persons to be worked 12 hours per day, seven days per week, with only four days' holiday per year.-Yours, etc.,
Eric Thornton.
