WORKING HOURS OF YOUNG PERSONS AND WOMEN

Fourth Stage Of Phased Programme Duo On December 1

In accordance with the Factories and Industrial Undertakings

(Amendment) Rogulations 1967, the fourth stage of a phased programme will

start on Decombor 1, 1970, for the progressive reduction of the standard

working hours of young persons aged 16 and 17, and women employed in industry.

A brief guide setting out the working hours and period of employment

for the period December 1, 1970, to November 30, 1971, will be sont by the

Labour Departmont to all proprietors of industrial undertakings.

Proprietors of industrial undertakings are required to reduce the

standard working hours of young porsons aged 16 and 17, and women, to not

more than eight hours 20 minutos a day on Docomber 1, 1970, if the standard

working hours are more than eight hours 20 minutos a day before that date.

A no notice specifying revised periods of omployment and intervals

for meals and rest in conformity with the regulations must be prepared,

postod, and kept posted in a conspicuous place in all industrial undertakings

employing women and young persons from December 1, 1970 onwards.

If proprietors require any help in preparing the new notice or need

additional information regarding these regulations, they should consult the

Labour inspector in charge of the Women and Young Persons Unit at any one of

the following offices of the Labour Department:-
