After discussion with MacLehose we think
the most convenient dates for the hand-over
Governorship would be for me to leave on or
about 1 September and for Maclehose to arrive
on or about 21 September. The opening meeting for
the new session of the Legislative Council could
then be held on or about 20 October. Grateful
for your observations on this proposal.
2.
MacLehose has asked whether handing-over
briefs could be prepared in time for him to see
them in May, with topping-up briefs prepared for
him on arrival in Hong Kong. Do you think we
can manage this?
