Governorship of Hong Kong

Sir David Trench told me when he was in London for the consultations with Hong Kong that he expected he would leave Hong Kong on retirement about 21 October, 1971. He thought that Mr. MacLehose should arrive about three weeks after he had left. There is no point in settling the exact dates so far ahead but we should perhaps tell Mr. MacLehose what we have in mind. already knows, of course, that the original plans have been changed. Will you write to him or would you like

He

me to do so ?
