We have asked Mr. Ma to call on you at 4 p.m. tomorrow.
The Chinese Office will telephone back to confirm the
appointment but on past form I doubt whether they will wish
to change the time. I shall be submitting a brief as soon
as possible. In the meantime you may care to see
Mr. Maddocks' letter of 7 October to Mr. Denson which fills
in some of the background to Hong Kong telegram No. 704.
