APPOINTMENTS TO EXECUTIVE AND LEGISLATIVE COUNCILS
Announcement In Gazette Extraordinary
The Queen has approved the appointment of the Hon. G.T. Rowe,
Director of Social Welfare, as an official member of the Executive Council
from July 1, 1970, to June 30, 1971, says an announcement in a Gazette
Extraordinary today.
Eight unofficial members of the Executive Council whose terms of
office expire on June 30 have been re-appointed as from July 1, 1970, to
December 31, 1971, both days inclusive.
They are Dr. the Hon. Sir Albert Rodrigues, the Hon. Sir Cho-yiu Kwan,
the Hon. J.D. Clague, the Hon. Fung Ping-fan, the Hon. S.S. Gordon, the
Hon. Kan Yuet-keung, the Hon. J.A.H. Saunders, and the Hon. Tang Ping Yuan.
In the Legislative Council, five nominated official members have
been re-appointed provisionally with effect from July 1, 1970.
They are the Hon. R.M. Hetherington, Commissioner of Labour; the
Hon. T.D. Sorby, Director of Commerce and Industry; the Hon. J.J. Robson,
Director of Public Works; the Hon. D.C.C. Luddington, District Commissioner,
New Territories; and the Hon. J. Canning, Director of Education.
Three nominated official members have been appointed provisionally
to the Legislative Council as from July 1, 1970.
They are Dr. G.H. Choa, Director Designate of the Medical and Health
Services; Mr. A.T. Clark, Acting Director of Urban Services; and Mr. L.E.A.
Holt-Kentwell, who will be acting as Director of Social Welfare Services
in place of Mr. Rowe who goes on leave tomorrow.
