RET IREMENT OF COUNCIL MEMBERS
Governor's Tribute To Mr. Sorby and Mr. Fung
*******
The Governor, Sir David Trench, paid a tribute today in the
Legislative Council to the retiring Director of Commerce and Industry,
Mr. T.D. Sorby.
He said it was Mr. Sorby's last attendance at the Council before
going on leave on July 20. He had served continuously since 1966, and the
Governor said he was sure members would join with him in expressing
appreciation for this work.
He noted that Mr. Sorby would be returning after leave to take up
another appointment in Hong Kong.
The Governor also informed the Council that the Hon. Fung Hon-chu,
now away from Hong Kong, had told him of his intention not to continue on
the Council. He thanked Mr. Fung for his service of the last six years.
The Hon. Y.K. Kan, senior unofficial member, rose to associate the
unofficials with the Governor's remarks.
