FORMER PUBLIC WORKS CHIEF TO BECOME LONDON OFFICE DIRECT OR

Mr. A.M.J. Vright will tako over the duties of the Director of
the Hong Kong Government Office in London in August this year.
Họ vill succeod Mr. P.C.M. Sodgwick, the prosent Director. Mr.
Sedgwick will, bo retiring on September 1, 1969 after he has handed over
to Mr. Wright,
Mr. Michael Wright, formerly Director of Public Works, is at
prosent on leave in the United Kingdom. He has been granted an extension
of serviço of about throo years in order to tako up his now assignmont.

The following is a biographical note on Mr. Vright, Director-Designate of the London Office:¬
Mr. Alec Michael John Wright was an Official Momber of the Logislative Council from 1963 to March 28, 1969. He was first appointed Architect in the Public Works Department on Doccmmber 2, 1938. He was promoted to Chief Architoct in December 1950 and held the post until October 1956, Ho was appointed Assistant Director in the same year and Doputy Director throe years later. He becamo Director in 1963.
Born in Hong Kong in 1912, Mr. Wright is the third goneration of his family to serve the Government and the people of the Colony. His grandfather, tho was in the Rating and Valuation Department, came hore over 80 years ago; his father, Mr. A.E. Wright, was in the Buildings Ordinance Office. Mr. Wright was married horo; his daughter, Romaine, was born hera.
When Mr. Wright was eight years old ho went to England to receive his cducation.
On February 7, 1969, ho completed 30 years of Govornmont Sorvico.
