I have really nothing to add to what Lucas and Gill have already said on this subject. I leave you to judge whether it would serve a useful purpose to make the sort of statement suggested in the penultimate paragraph of Gill's letter of 8th July.

I am sorry that I have not been able to be more forthcoming but I am sure you appreciate our own difficulties in this matter. I have also been influenced to some extent by the continuing boom in the Colony and the confidence in its future which has arisen as a result of the decision to build the tunnel.

I am sending copies of this letter to Coe, Gill, Ricketts, D.C. Smith and Lucas here.

Yours sericerely Rstee
