These can normally be considered only where the husband is over 50, and the wife has lived here for 10 years or more. If this condition cannot be ful- filled, the application can still be considered in cases where the husband has previously lived in Hong Kong, or if he still has close business con- nections with the Colony,

(a) An application for both parents to join natural

sons or daughters already resident in the Colony will normally be approved, provided that one of the parents is over the age of 50, and the son or daughter is able to support and provide accom- modation for both parents.

(b) An application from one only of the parents to

join natural sons or daughters already resident in the Colony will normally be approved, pro- vided that the parent applying to come to Hong Kong is over the age of 50, and the son or daughter is able to support and provide accom- modation for that parent.

(c) Applications in respect of parents where both

are under 50 years of age will not be approved unless there are strong compassionate or humanitarian reasons.

Applications for the entry of widows or widowers

Applications can be considered from widowers over 50, or widows of any age, joining the nearest or only surviving relatives already resident in the Colony. In this context a divorced woman will be regarded as being the same category as a widow.
