NOTE FOR THE EXECUTIVE AND LEGISLATIVE COUNCILS
Attached is a copy of the first formal report submitted
to the Governor by the Secretary for Chinese Affairs on the
CITY DISTRICT OFFICER OCH ME

His Excellency has instructed that copies of the report be distributed to Honourable Members for information. The report is also to be published as soon as possible, but some revision of the text will be necessary for this purpose, and taking into account the time needed for translation and printing, it will be some little time before publication can be effected. The printed report will be tabled in the legislative Council as soon as it is
ready.

The Government view is that the scheme has been
reasonably successful so far and justifies the maintenance of the
effort and resources involved.

Should Members so wish, the Secretary for Chinese Affairs will be available at any time to discuss matters arising from the report or connected with the scheme in general.
