Communist papers, on the other hand, played up reports of the rosentment against the court decision on 23 striking waterworks workers.
Communist attacks.
Communist papers were attacking the Government on several fronts.
First and foremost of these issues was the imprisonment of 23 striking water workers who were elected office-bearers of a union.
Won Wei and Ta Kung said in identical stories that the Hong Kong Government Waterworks Chinese Employees Union had issued a statement at a meeting yesterday to protost against the new provocation.
Waterworks workers who attended the meeting were determined to unite together and give a counter-blow at the new political persecution, the papers added.
Editorially, Ta Kung described the court action as a "pre-meditated political porsecution" and Wen Wei called it a "naked Fascist persecution."
